Junior Kimmi Hance pumps her fist in celebration. UCLA women’s tennis earned the No. 1 seed in the last-ever Pac-12 championships. (Nicolas Greamo/Daily Bruin senior staff)
The Bruins are fewer than 100 days away from transitioning from the Pac-12 conference to the Big Ten.
But before they can look to the future, one final Pac-12 championship will mark their last event as part of the conference.

The pressure is mounting.
The Bruins broke into the top 10.
And if they play their cards right, they could wear two crowns by the weekend’s end.
A loud declaration washed through a sea of largely empty seats.
It didn’t come from any chair umpire, coach or active player.
Instead, Kimmi Hance projected the rallying cry through an orange cone following each singles set won.
It was elation suspended. One final twist in a theater of turns.
As the ball sailed off Elise Wagle’s racket and touched the opposite baseline, her opponent raised a finger – the shot was called out.

The Pac-12 tournament will mark seven weeks since UCLA’s last loss if the team continues its 15-game winning streak in the coming days.
The Bruins beat the Cardinal on Sunday for the first time since 2021.
Two days later, they rose three ranks in the national rankings – their highest rank of the season – and also saw two singles players and two doubles teams rise in the ranks.
Kimmi Hance’s teammates stood on the sidelines for over an hour, coming up with increasingly creative cheers to drown out heckling from the stands.
The junior stood in the same position as her teammate the day before, fighting her way through the third set of her match as the only Bruin left playing.
