Rated as the No. 2 university for food and dining by Cappex, UCLA has invested great time and effort to fill up empty bellies. In fact, several UCLA students think regular meal times are just not enough and often proceed to smuggle large food quantities such as three bananas, five cookies and even pieces of chicken out of the dining halls.
On Nov. 20 and Nov. 21, the CFan Chinese Theatre Group performed “The Pillowman” at the Northwest Campus Auditorium. Originally written by Irish playwright Martin McDonagh, “The Pillowman” tells the twisted tale of a fictional writer interrogated for the gruesome details of his stories and their striking similarities to a number of local child murders.
It’s that time of the year again. UCLA’s 2015 fall quarter is marked by an influx of more than 6,000 incoming freshmen. As students go through freshman orientation, they look to find answers about academics and dorm life at UCLA.
On Wednesday, May 27, UCLA’s International Students Association, or ISA, will host the second annual World In-Sight exposition. The participating student cultural groups will showcase aspects of their cultures such as local cuisines, traditional clothing and music etc.
From May 8 to May 9, UCLA’s Department of World Arts and Cultures and the Department of Dance will put on a production showcase featuring seventeen dance, film and spoken word pieces by graduating seniors at Kaufman Hall.
In a globalized modern society, the demand for foreign language learning and understanding cultural diversity is increasing. From April 3-5, UCLA’s Asian Languages and Cultures Department hosts the 27th Annual North American Conference on Chinese Linguistics.
