The UCLA community celebrated Los Angeles culture Thursday at April’s First Thursdays block party.
Roller skating, skate performances, a live mural painting and food trucks were featured on Broxton Avenue for “LA Vibes,” drawing in more than 2,200 attendees, said Eddie North-Hager, interim executive director of UCLA Media.

Medical, dental and nursing students joined a collaborative blood drive Friday to collect donations for patients at UCLA Health hospitals.
The drive, which took place at Geffen Hall, was hosted by the Blood Donation Initiative at the David Geffen School of Medicine in partnership with groups including the UCLA Mobile Clinic Project and NMDP – formerly known as the National Marrow Donor Program and Be The Match.

The December edition of First Thursdays took over Broxton Avenue on Thursday night, featuring a “Let There Be Light” theme.
The monthly First Thursdays event series began in March 2022 and has welcomed over 55,000 guests since then, said Eddie North-Hager, a UCLA spokesperson, adding that this month’s event aimed to highlight Bruins and their creativity – from a cappella performances to poets composing live pieces on type-writers.

Bruins gathered on Wilson Plaza on Thursday for music, soft serve ice cream and lawn games during the November edition of First Thursdays.
The event series, which is hosted by UCLA, launched in March 2022 with the goal of bringing the community together.
