A plethora of gymnasts will say goodbye to the sport at the national championships this week.
And for eight Bruins, competing on collegiate gymnastics’ biggest stage will be their final hurrah.
No. 5 UCLA gymnastics kicked off its postseason Thursday in Salt Lake City, Utah and will battle nine opponents in its region in hopes of punching its ticket to the NCAA national championships on April 17.
It’ll be a taste of history – storied history – for the Bruins this weekend.
The crosstown showdown against the Bruins’ fiercest rivals, the Trojans, followed them to the Big Ten.
No. 2 UCLA gymnastics is finding its stride as it enters the second half of the season. The squad could be on a steady climb to the top throughout the remainder of its year.

Championship pedigree ran deep in the Bruins’ 2024 league – otherwise known as the “Conference of Champions.”
And though the Big Ten is without its own prestigious moniker, the Bruins’ new conference opponents have enough of their own silverware.
Frida Esparza pumped up the crowd on bars and electrified the student section with the guitar.
And the combination of the two led the graduate student to the highest score of her career.
With Esparza kickstarting the day with an electric guitar rendition of the national anthem, No.
