Working at the Daily Bruin gave me nightmares.
This paper has given me nightmares for years – even before I became an editor.
Here are some highlights:
2022-2023 Sports editor Sam Settleman requested a photo of his own face – rather than one of the athletes – for the gymnastics wrap’s A art.

After Chancellor Gene Block declared Tuesday that the Palestine solidarity encampment was “unlawful,” pro-Israel counter-protesters attempted to storm the encampment in a violent attack that same night.

No. 1 seed UCLA women’s tennis and No. 3 seed UCLA men’s tennis traveled up to Ojai, California last week to compete in the Pac-12 championships.

Counter-protesters demonstrated against pro-Palestine protesters Sunday, filling Dickson Plaza and Portola Plaza with thousands of people. 
The counter-protest, organized by the Israeli American Council, drew thousands of participants.

OJAI, Calif. — A thrown hat, a fall onto his back and a “quack quack.”
Those three instances summed up the Bruins’ experience at the conference tournament, which can be further distilled down to one word: frustrating.

Roughly 194,000 people attended the three-day Grand Prix in Long Beach, which is dubbed “Southern California’s 200-MPH Beach Party.” The event has run longer than any other major street race in North America.

Tennis is a game of confidence as much as it is one of physical abilities.
Coach Billy Martin’s team has it in spades.
“We’re very confident,” said junior Alexander Hoogmartens.

UCLA beach volleyball took down both Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge 5-0 during its final home duals of the season. The Bruins gave their seniors a farewell at Mapes Beach and now prepare for the Center of Effort Challenge in San Luis Obispo, California.
